What is the difference between a Facebook profile and a Facebook page?

The Facebook profile

When you create an account on Facebook with an email address and a password, then you create a Facebook profile. This Facebook profile allows you to upload photos, videos and other content that you can share with other people. These other people are the "friends" you have added to your profile, or who have added you. This profile usually shares personal information, but you can set filters to define which "friends" see which shares. Some people create a Facebook profile to promote their hair salon. A Facebook profile is not meant to showcase a business and promote it on that profile. However, a Facebook page is the right tool to promote your salon on this social network.

The Facebook page

You create a Facebook page from your profile, i.e. you can't just create a Facebook page. As said before, when you create a Facebook account, it is actually the profile that you create. The Facebook page is adapted to promote your business, people (profiles) then "like" your Facebook page. Via this page you are not "friends" with people and you do not need to be "friends" with people for them to "like" your page. Anyone can "like" your page, since as the page manager, you do not have to validate who likes your page.

Communicate on your Facebook page

When creating your Facebook page, make sure you enter all the right information about your hair salon. That is to say at least the name of your hair salon, the postal address, the phone number, the website (if you have one), the opening hours and a small description of your salon. To increase the notoriety of your hair salon, feel free to "post" your page on your profile, so that all your Facebook "friends" can see that you have created a page of your salon, and potentially "like" your page. Also, don't be afraid to ask your salon customers to like your Page, otherwise don't hesitate to put a little note that you're on Facebook at checkout. For your hair salon to have a good image and keep a certain notoriety, it is important to feed your Facebook page. Regularly post about activities that are happening in your salon, or about other interesting topics in the field that might interest your clients! Also know that when a "fan" likes a post on your page, it's a visible action in the Facebook news of the friends of this (tte) fan, who will potentially go on your page, like your page, and take an appointment in your hair salon! At Wavy, we propose to create one post per week ! Don't hesitate to contact us for more information.
